I can't believe we're almost done! Wow! Does it feel good? Ok, so today I'm going to focus on organizing our digital pictures and cleaning out the car-(not really organizing, but my car needs it!)
So you need to start surfing your harddrive and see where all your digital photos are located. Then decide how you're going to organize them. I have mine organized by date, except for some like "craft pictures", etc. If you have them all organized into folders, start going through them and deleting the blurry ones, ones your kids may have taken of "nothing", and any duplicates.
Once your folders are cleaned up, you need to BACK THEM UP! I don't care how you do this, but get it done. You can back them up online, burn a CD, or drop them to a USB stick. If you're putting them on a CD or stick, then go put the CD or stick in your 72 hour kit. This way if you have to grab and go, you've got them with you.
If you still have time, grab your camera and take a jog around your house and snap pictures of everything in your house. This is great for insurance purposes. Back it up and put in your 72 hour kit!
Ok, to get yourself motivated to scrapbook these (if this is something you do), go ahead and upload a couple of your folders to someplace like Snapfish or Walgreens, etc. Get them printed! I copied the info below over from "Pinching your Pennies". You can always find decent prices online for printing your pictures.

At first I thought that I'd just print as I scrapbooked, so I could do different sized photos if needed. Well, that doesn't work for me. I haven't scrapbooked in over 5 years! So I'm printing and getting a move on. I have a small box that I keep my prints in. It has little dividers in it, to keep the photos organized. Ok, here is the last thing I'm doing for my scrapbooks. Some of you may say I'm "cheating" but I call it reality.
I am not scrapbooking all my photos in the tradition sense. I went online to Jo-Ann Fabric Stores (www.joann.com) and ordered these sheet protectors. Here is the link: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=xprd1023386
IF YOU'RE GOING TO ORDER THESE, USE THIS CODE: PIA041. It's good for FREE SHIPPING on orders over $35 from Joann.com. You must order by 2/10/2010.
The sheet protectors have six little pockets in them, to hold 6 photos. My plan is to put my photos in the protectors, and then into an album. If I do nothing else, at least they are not on my computer or stuffed in a box. But my ultimate goal is to scrapbook a page or two for each "event." If I have a ton of photos for a birthday, that's fine. I'll have my two pages that are scrapbooked and then I'll put the rest of the photos behind the pages, in these special protectors. This way I still feel like I'm scrapbooking, and I can do fun layouts, but it should go A LOT faster! I'll be able to write all the "journaling" on my two pages so I know the "who, what, where, when and hows". I'm so excited to get my protectors in the mail and get started. They are on sale right now! But I'm not here to coax you to buy something that you're not going to use. But this is what I'm doing (thanks to my friend Karen! I love the idea!).
Ok, last but not least, take 2 grocery bags out today and while you're sitting in your car waiting for your kids, let's clean up our vehicles! Make it something fun for your younger ones. Tell them you're going on a scavenger hunt to see what you can find under the seats! Use one grocery bag for the garbage, and the other for the stuff that needs to come inside.
That's it, I've got to run....I'm working on a little surprise for the end of this...be sure you check back tomorrow!
